
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake thanked China for its support in debt restructuring and economic assistance during Sri Lanka’s crisis.
President Dissanayake expressed these views during a meeting with Ms. Qin Boyong, Vice Chairperson of the CPPCC, at the Parliamentary Complex on the 18th.
Ms. Qin Boyong stated that China is eager to collaborate with Sri Lanka’s new government to further enhance their enduring partnership.
The President thanked China for its help during Sri Lanka’s disasters and for supplying school uniforms, stressing the importance of ongoing support.
President Dissanayake emphasized the need to complete the unfinished sections of the Central Expressway under Chinese management and expressed hopes to accelerate the development of supply hubs and projects around Colombo Port City and Hambantota District.
Ms. Qin Boyong announced plans to resume maritime research activities, which had been paused for various reasons, and to initiate related projects.
The event was attended by Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism Minister Vijitha Herath, Deputy Speaker Dr. Rizvie Salih, and Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference committee member Mr. Ma Youxiang, among others. (PMD)
