President appoints Anura Karunathilake as Energy Minister

Anura Kumara Dissanayake has appointed Anura Karunathilake as the new Minister of Energy.

Karunathilake took oaths before the President on April 20 at the Presidential Secretariat.

In addition to his new role overseeing the energy sector, he will continue to serve as the Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation.

Nandika Sanath Kumanayake was also present at the swearing-in ceremony.

Karunathilake succeeds Kumara Jayakody, who stepped down from the post earlier this week to allow for a transparent investigation into the coal procurement controversy.
