President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has expressed his full support for the “Walk for Peace” initiative, which was officially launched in Sri Lanka today (21).
In a message shared on X, the President said he was honoured to support the journey, which promotes mindfulness, loving-kindness, unity, and harmony among all people.
He highlighted that the walk carries Sacred Relics of the Buddha and a Bodhi tree sapling from Dambulla as it travels across the island, encouraging citizens to reflect on the country’s spiritual and cultural values.
The President further called on all Sri Lankans to embrace the principles of peace and compassion that form an important part of the nation’s heritage.
He also expressed hope that the initiative would strengthen national unity and deliver a powerful message of peace to the global community.
