President Anura Kumara Dissanayake today delivered a strong response to remarks made by Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, who recently claimed that “even a Montessori child” could achieve the government’s current revenue performance.
Speaking at a public event, President Dissanayake said Sri Lanka has, for the first time in its history, exceeded its revenue targets, describing the Opposition Leader’s statement as an attempt to undermine a major national achievement.
“I wondered why he said it,” the President remarked. “He didn’t say it for any other reason. What he really meant was that he too could do it. By saying a preschool child can achieve this, he was merely trying to imply his own capability.”
