President AKD speaks to Qatar Amir

Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani received a telephone call from Anura Kumara Dissanayake, during which the two leaders discussed the evolving situation in the Middle East.

At the outset of the call, President Dissanayake inquired about the situation in Qatar and expressed Sri Lanka’s solidarity and support in light of ongoing tensions involving Iran and other countries in the region.

The Amir reassured the President about the safety and well-being of the Sri Lankan community living in Qatar, affirming the country’s commitment to the welfare of all residents.

Both leaders also discussed the broader challenges facing the region, particularly the impact of military escalation on global energy markets and supply chains. President Dissanayake highlighted the need for international coordination and cooperation to address these challenges effectively.

The Amir reaffirmed Qatar’s role as a reliable energy partner, stressing its commitment to ensuring the continuous supply of energy despite current disruptions.

During the conversation, both sides underscored the importance of strengthening international and regional efforts to de-escalate tensions, promote stability, and resolve conflicts through diplomatic means.
