President, AG hold talks on controversial legal proceedings

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake held a discussion yesterday (06th) with Attorney General Parinda Ranasinghe PC and officials from the Attorney General’s Department at the Presidential Secretariat.

During the meeting, the President emphasized the need for coordinated efforts among institutions to ensure the effective enforcement of the law, according to the President’s Media Division (PMD).

Highlighting the pivotal role of the Attorney General’s Department, President Dissanayake underscored the importance of rebuilding public confidence in the judicial system.

He also stressed the need to eliminate public perceptions of political interference in legal proceedings, reaffirming the government’s commitment to safeguarding the integrity of the justice system.

The President assured that steps are being taken to restore fairness, equity, and trust in the legal process, pledging that the government will refrain from any actions that could undermine public expectations.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Justice and National Integration Harshana Nanayakkara, Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security Ravi Seneviratne, and senior officials from the Attorney General’s Department.
