A single ticket purchased in New South Wales has claimed the entire $100 million Powerball jackpot from Thursday night’s draw, making one lucky player a member of Australia’s exclusive “$100 million club.”
Powerball draw number 1517, the biggest jackpot of 2025 so far, was won by one entry that matched all eight winning numbers.
The winning numbers were 28, 10, 3, 16, 31, 14, and 21, with the Powerball number being 6.
While the jackpot winner walked away with $100 million, six division two winners each took home $282,000, and 187 players won $11,200 each in division three.
With up to half of all Australian adults expected to enter the draw, the excitement surrounding Thursday’s Powerball was nationwide.
The lucky winner now ranks equal third among the largest individual lottery winners in Australian history.
The last time Powerball reached a $100 million prize was in November, making this draw a rare and highly anticipated event.
Only six Australians have ever won $100 million or more through Powerball, underscoring the rarity of such a windfall.
The Lott spokesperson Anna Hobdell highlighted the unpredictability of lottery wins, noting that life-changing moments can happen anywhere—from quiet country towns to busy city streets.
“The $100 million club is growing,” Hobdell said earlier in the week, “and we’ve just welcomed a new member.”
