A fraudulent message is currently circulating on social media, falsely claiming to offer prizes on behalf of a bank, police said.

Authorities explained that the message is part of a dangerous scam aimed at deceiving the public.

Reports indicate that the scam is designed to steal personal information and even interfere with software on mobile phones.

Nirosh Ananda, the Chief Information Security Officer of the Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Response Team (SLCERT), confirmed that the organization has received numerous complaints regarding this matter.

He further cautioned that individuals who use mobile phones for banking activities should remain extremely vigilant against such fraudulent messages.
