As part of Sri Lanka’s nationwide anti-drug initiative, law enforcement authorities are deploying police sniffer dog units to assist in drug search operations within schools.
The measure is part of the broader “National Mission for a United Nation,” led by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, which aims to eliminate drug abuse across the country.
According to the Police Media Division, the decision was prompted by increasing concerns over the distribution of narcotics targeting schoolchildren.
The program is expected to be implemented in schools across the island in the coming weeks.
