Police launch anonymous tip line

Sri Lanka Police have introduced the 1997 tip line for anonymous reporting of crimes, drug networks, and illegal activities.

This initiative aims to enhance public cooperation with law enforcement while ensuring the confidentiality of informants.

Citizens can report offenses such as drug trafficking, organized crime, child abuse, financial fraud, bribery, and corruption.

The 1997 hotline will be operated by a dedicated team at Police Headquarters to ensure swift and secure responses.

Residents in the Northern and Eastern provinces can also use the 107 hotlines for the same purpose.

Police urge the public to use these tip lines responsibly to aid crime prevention and strengthen national security.
