Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya emphasized the need to rebuild public trust in institutions and ensure that all sectors act in the best interests of children, moving away from a culture of suspicion.

She stressed that teaching must once again become a respected and prestigious profession, chosen for its ability to create positive change in society rather than being viewed as a fallback or secure career option.
The Prime Minister said the broader objective of educational reform is to nurture respected leaders in religion, business, politics, the arts, and community life—individuals whom the public can admire and trust.
Reaffirming the Government’s vision for education, she stated that education is ultimately about gaining a deeper understanding of the world in order to transform it.
She added that meaningful progress can only be achieved when society engages in open, courageous, and constructive dialogue with one another.
