The present government’s policy is not to provide luxury to a limited few, but to manage the economy in a manner that delivers tangible benefits to the wider public, Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya said.
She noted that the successful implementation of the government’s new programme requires strong support and coordination from both relevant ministries and provincial authorities.
The Prime Minister added that steps are being taken to address teacher shortages and other vacancies in the state service by 2026.
Prime Minister Amarasuriya made these remarks while attending a scholarship award ceremony for children in the Northern Province, held at the Nelum Piyasa Hall of the Iranamadu Army Camp in Kilinochchi.
Students who recorded outstanding results at the 2024 G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination were recognised at the event and awarded scholarships through the Presidential Fund.
