PM Harini assures government translators their salary concerns will be addressed

Officials of the Government Translators’ Service Union met with Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya at the Prime Minister’s Office to discuss several issues, including salary-related concerns.

According to the Prime Minister’s Media Division, the discussion focused on prevailing salary issues within the Government Translators’ Service, such as disparities between grades and existing staff vacancies.

The Prime Minister noted that these challenges stem from the failure of previous governments to implement public service salary increases through a systematic and logical framework. She added that discussions to address salary disparities are currently ongoing.

Dr. Amarasuriya further stated that a positive course of action is expected to be taken on this matter next year.

The meeting was attended by the Secretary to the Prime Minister, Pradeep Saputhanthri, the President of the Government Translators’ Service Union, Mujibar Rahman, and several other officials.
