
Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya has arrived in New Delhi for her maiden official visit to India since assuming office.
The visit marks the continuation of the long-standing tradition of close engagement between Sri Lanka and India, aimed at further strengthening their deep-rooted friendship and cooperation.
During her stay, Prime Minister Amarasuriya is scheduled to meet with Indian political leaders to discuss a range of bilateral issues of mutual interest.
She will also deliver the keynote address at the NDTV World Summit, an event jointly organized by NDTV and the Chintan Research Foundation in Delhi.
As the Minister of Education, Prime Minister Amarasuriya will visit the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and NITI Aayog to explore opportunities for collaboration in education and technology.
A distinguished alumna of Hindu College, University of Delhi, she will also visit her alma mater during the trip.
In addition, the Prime Minister will attend a business event aimed at enhancing trade and investment ties between Sri Lanka and India.
Dr. Amarasuriya departed from the Bandaranaike International Airport at around 12:40 a.m. yesterday (16th) on SriLankan Airlines flight UL-191, according to the Ada Derana airport correspondent.
She is scheduled to remain in India until 18th of October the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism said in a statement.
