Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya announced today that the government is preparing a mechanism to prevent foreigners from engaging in business activities while on tourist visas.
Speaking in Parliament, the Prime Minister acknowledged reports of such activities and emphasized that the government has identified this as a significant issue.
“We are currently discussing measures to address this and are in the process of formulating a mechanism to stop such illegal activities,” she stated.
The Prime Minister’s remarks came in response to a question from SJB MP Mujibur Rahman regarding reports of Israeli nationals conducting business in Sri Lanka while on tourist visas.
