
Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya underscored the urgent need for a well-structured and participatory system to collect accurate data in the aftermath of the recent natural disaster. She said that reliable information is vital for restoring normalcy and guiding informed, effective decision-making.
Speaking at a high-level discussion held at the Prime Minister’s Office yesterday, Dr. Amarasuriya stressed that comprehensive data collection frameworks must be established at both district and regional levels to ensure accuracy and transparency.
She further emphasized that rebuilding efforts must be driven by credible data, calling for awareness programs to educate local officials and the public on the importance of data in disaster management.
The meeting was attended by the Additional Secretary to the Prime Minister and several senior officials.
