Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya announced that steps will be taken to establish economic democracy in Sri Lanka.
She highlighted that the ongoing budget debate in Parliament has shown a shift, with the opposition now embracing Marxist and Leninist ideologies more strongly than the government.
Dr. Amarasuriya emphasized that from the outset, the government has been committed to creating an economy where everyone has the opportunity to participate, ensuring that no one is left behind.
She explained that economic democracy aims to create a fair and inclusive system, where the benefits are distributed efficiently and equitably.
The Prime Minister also mentioned that the government is working on a mechanism to allow citizens to actively engage in this economic transformation.
In addition, she pointed out that significant funds have been allocated to ministries connected to the economy in the budget, which will open new opportunities for citizens.
Dr. Amarasuriya urged the public to make the most of these initiatives.
