Prime Minister and Education Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya has announced that special assistance will be extended to schools in challenging areas as part of the upcoming education reforms. She emphasized that no problem is insurmountable when the government, officials, and citizens work together.
Dr. Amarasuriya made these remarks during her visits to the Kalkuda and Eravur Zonal Education Offices in the Batticaloa District, where she met with education officials, teachers, and parents to discuss preparations for the 2026 education reforms.
Highlighting the difficulties faced in Batticaloa, particularly in school performance, the Prime Minister said the government is prioritizing additional support for the district to ensure students receive better opportunities.
She also stressed the importance of strengthening schools, teachers, principals, and education administration to provide every child with access to quality education. “Education is the foundation of national development. By joining hands and working together, we can overcome challenges and secure a bright future for all children,” she said.
