Kavinga, the son of model and actress Piumi Hansamali, was released on bail yesterday (13) by Colombo Additional Magistrate Mohamed Rizwan in connection with an alleged assault on a three-wheeler driver.
The incident occurred following a traffic accident in the Kalapaluwawa area of Rajagiriya.
Police reported that the suspect’s friend had been riding a motorcycle in the early hours of July 13 when it collided with a three-wheeler. Following the accident, Kavinga and several others allegedly arrived at the scene and assaulted the three-wheeler driver.
The injured driver is currently receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital.
Kavinga, who is 15 years old, was granted personal bail of Rs. 500,000.
Police also informed the court that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend the other individuals involved in the assault.
After reviewing the submissions from both the police and the defence, the Magistrate approved the suspect’s release on bail.
