Pilot dies after light aircraft crashes in NSW

A light aircraft has crashed on Palmers Island, near Yamba in New South Wales, resulting in one fatality and leaving another person seriously injured.

Emergency services responded to the crash site, located approximately 8 km west of Yamba, at around 11:20 am. The 60-year-old pilot was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second occupant, a 30-year-old man, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Gold Coast Hospital for treatment.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash. Further details are expected as inquiries continue.
