The Powerloom Development Export Promotion Council (PDEXCIL) will strengthen trade linkages between Indian and Sri Lankan textile industries for sustainable and long-term cooperation, said K. Sakthivel, its chairman, in a recent press release.
A delegation of Indian fabric exporters recently visited Sri Lanka with the goal of boosting bilateral textile trade and fostering industry collaboration.
Mr. Sakthivel was also recognized for his decade-long involvement in Intex South Asia.
During the visit, the delegation engaged with Sri Lankan textile importers, garment manufacturers, and trade associations to promote sourcing of Indian fabrics and made-ups, facilitate B2B partnerships and direct trade channels, participate in textile trade fairs and buyer-seller meets, and improve logistics and market access strategies.
The delegation held discussions with Sri Lanka’s Minister of Industries on potential collaborative initiatives, including joint ventures, skill development, knowledge exchange, and promoting sustainable textile practices.
Additionally, the delegation met with the Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka in Colombo, showcasing India’s textile industry strengths, particularly in power loom products and home textiles.
The visiting delegation included PDEXCIL Vice Chairman Chandrasekar, Export Panel Convener Bharath Chhajer, and senior members of the Fabric Exporters Association representing India’s leading fabric and home textile exporters.
