Passport rankings: top two countries unveiled

Singapore has claimed the top spot on the 2025 Henley Passport Index, offering visa-free access to 195 out of 227 destinations worldwide.

Japan secured second place with visa-free access to 193 destinations, regaining access to China for the first time since the Covid-19 lockdowns.

The Henley Passport Index ranks 199 passports based on visa-free travel options, using exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

Sri Lanka ranked 96th on the 2025 index, alongside Iran and South Sudan, with its passport granting visa-free access to 44 countries.

Sri Lanka’s passport has seen an improvement, moving up from 100th in 2023 and 102nd in 2022.

The Henley Passport Index remains a key global benchmark for measuring the strength of national passports.
