
A total of 3,147 newly recruited nurses received their appointment letters at a special ceremony held at the Assembly Hall of Temple Trees in Colombo yesterday (24), marking the largest-ever induction in the history of Sri Lanka’s nursing service.
Health and Mass Media Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, speaking at the event, highlighted the significance of this milestone, emphasizing the government’s commitment to strengthening the healthcare sector.
In addition to the new recruits, 79 special grade nursing officers were also promoted during the ceremony.
The event was held under the patronage of Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, with senior health officials including Health Secretary Dr. Anil Jasinghe in attendance.
