Over 2,100 violence against women complaints filed since November 2024

A total of 2,183 complaints related to violence against women have been reported since November 2024, the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs announced.

These complaints were received through the 1938 toll-free Women’s Helpline, operated by the National Committee on Women under the Ministry.

According to the Ministry, domestic violence accounted for the highest number of complaints at 1,488, while 234 complaints were linked to cybercrimes. Additionally, seven cases involved sexual abuse.

The Ministry of Women and Child Affairs, together with the National Committee on Women and several government and non-governmental organizations, has intensified efforts to promote the 1938 helpline. Operating 24/7 in all three languages, the helpline aims to encourage reporting, raise awareness, and reduce violence driven by gender biases and social norms.

The Ministry further announced that beginning November 25, observed globally as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, a 16-day national program will be launched to combat gender-based violence and promote gender equality.

The campaign will conclude on December 10, International Human Rights Day, with initiatives focused on empowering women and increasing public awareness of their rights.
