Over 13,000 dengue cases reported in two months

Sri Lanka has recorded a total of 13,416 dengue cases so far this year, the National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU) said.

Community Physician Specialist Dr. Prasheela Samaraweera stated that the highest number of cases has been reported from the Colombo District and the Gampaha District. Additional cases have also been identified in the Galle District, Matara District and Ratnapura District.

She further confirmed that four dengue-related deaths have been reported so far this year.

In light of the current situation, Dr. Samaraweera urged the public to seek medical attention from a qualified doctor if a fever persists for more than two days, stressing the importance of early diagnosis and timely treatment.
