The Ministry of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs announced that a total of 129,862 individuals have been arrested across Sri Lanka during a special nationwide police crackdown targeting drug-related offenses.
Of those arrested, 39,627 are suspected of involvement with heroin, 47,615 with crystal methamphetamine (ICE), and 42,620 with cannabis-related offenses.
Law enforcement agencies have also seized substantial quantities of illegal drugs, including 934.55 kilograms of heroin, 1,402.976 kilograms of ICE, and 11,620.068 kilograms of cannabis.
The ministry emphasized its continued commitment to combating drug trafficking and addiction through these coordinated efforts.
