A total of 1,182 individuals were arrested in connection with drug-related offenses during a special island-wide operation carried out on the 26th by the Sri Lanka Police, the Special Task Force (STF), and the Tri-Forces.
During the operation, authorities seized 230 grams and 159 milligrams of crystal methamphetamine (commonly known as Ice) and 220 grams and 415 milligrams of heroin.
In addition to drug arrests, 20 individuals linked to criminal activities and 410 suspects with outstanding arrest warrants were also apprehended.
A total of 24,343 individuals were subjected to inspections, while 9,727 vehicles and 7,396 motorcycles were searched.
Over 7,600 personnel from the police, STF, and tri-forces took part in the extensive operation.
Authorities also recovered four illegal firearms during the course of the operation.
