Over 1,000 arrested in nationwide anti-drug raids

A total of 1,056 suspects were arrested in 1,065 island-wide raids carried out yesterday (14) under the “Nation United – National Drive” campaign, which aims to eradicate narcotics from the country.

Police obtained detention orders for 39 suspects, while 53 others were referred to rehabilitation.

According to the Police Media Division, officers seized 331 grams of heroin, 1 kilogram and 173 grams of crystal methamphetamine (Ice), 3 kilograms and 109 grams of cannabis, 52,165 cannabis plants, 332 hashish stamps, 2,012 narcotic tablets, 572 methamphetamine pills, and 6 kilograms and 44 grams of marijuana during the operations.

Police also identified 14 individuals directly involved in criminal activities, and 288 people with outstanding warrants were arrested.

In addition, 27 motorists were arrested for driving under the influence, another 27 for reckless driving, and legal action was initiated against 4,189 individuals for various other traffic violations.
