Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa visited the Colombo National Hospital on 18th of June to inquire into the condition of UNP councillor Uluwaduge Sandamali, who is currently receiving treatment after being assaulted.
Sandamali, a member of the Colombo Municipal Council representing the United National Party (UNP), was reportedly attacked by an unidentified group while returning home following the special council session held on 16th of June to elect the new Mayor of Colombo.
She sustained injuries during the assault and was admitted to hospital for treatment.
Sandamali has alleged that supporters of the National People’s Power (NPP) were behind the attack. However, the government has firmly denied these accusations.
