The Department of Immigration and Emigration has announced the conclusion of its special 24-hour one-day passport issuing service, which has been operational since 18th of February 2025. The service will officially end on 30th of May 2025.
Starting from 2nd of June 2025, the one-day passport service will be available from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Department’s Head Office in Battaramulla.
Applicants with prior reservations or urgent travel requirements will continue to be accommodated under this service.
Meanwhile, normal passport applications will still be accepted at the Head Office and all Regional Offices during regular hours, from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The Department urged the public to plan accordingly and make necessary appointments in advance to avoid delays.
