A woman in her 40s is in critical condition following a three-vehicle collision that closed a major Melbourne freeway on Friday.
The crash occurred around 12:05 p.m. in Southbank and involved a 4WD towing a horse float, a car, and a truck, between Montague and Power Streets.
Emergency services had to cut the woman free from the wreckage. A man in his 30s was also taken to The Alfred Hospital in serious but stable condition.
The truck driver was unharmed, and police confirmed that no animals were injured in the incident.
All inbound lanes of the West Gate Freeway have since been reopened.
