Nurse banned 18 months for document forgery

Syed Husnain, a 30-year-old nurse, has been disqualified from practising for 18 months after admitting to serious professional misconduct involving forged documents.

The South Australian Civil and Administrative Tribunal revealed that Husnain had previously submitted a fabricated language test result to the Australian Health Professions Regulatory Agency (AHPRA) in May 2020.

The misconduct was part of an attempt to secure employment at a hospital on South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula. Although Husnain claimed he acted out of desperation and fear, the tribunal stressed that repeated dishonesty is never acceptable.

It was found that he forged documents on three separate occasions. As a consequence, his health practitioner registration was cancelled, and he was banned from reapplying for 18 months. Additionally, he is prohibited from providing any health services during this time.

Despite his apology and expressions of remorse, the tribunal concluded that Husnain had not yet regained the trust necessary to resume professional practice.
