Three individuals, including a National People’s Power (NPP) member of the Dehiwala–Mount Lavinia Municipal Council, were injured after a drug addict attacked them with sharp objects following a failed burglary attempt.
The suspect allegedly attempted to break into the residence of NPP Dehiwala–Mount Lavinia Municipal Councillor Yalini Rajendran on Gregory’s Road at around 2.30 p.m. this afternoon.
During the incident, the suspect attacked the councillor, her son, and her father.
He was subsequently apprehended by neighbours and handed over to the police.
The injured victims were admitted to the Kalubowila Teaching Hospital for treatment.
