No handshakes exchanged in fiery India-Pakistan T20 clash

India defeated Pakistan by six wickets in their second Asia Cup clash in Dubai, with players once again refusing to shake hands.

The two teams had also avoided handshakes in their previous meeting last Sunday, prompting Pakistan to complain to organisers.

At the toss, captains did not acknowledge each other, and after India chased down 172 runs with seven balls to spare, no handshakes followed.

Tensions flared during India’s chase when the umpire had to step in between Abhishek Sharma and Haris Rauf.

Abhishek and Shubman Gill put on a fiery 105-run stand in 59 balls, exchanging words with Pakistan’s bowlers throughout.

Abhishek scored 74 off 39 balls, Gill made 47, and Tilak Varma finished unbeaten on 30, sealing India’s seventh straight win over Pakistan across formats with a six.

Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan top-scored with 58 from 45 balls, celebrating his half-century with a gun-firing gesture using his bat.

Pakistan started strong at 91-1 in 10 overs and ended with a late flourish of 42 runs in the final three, but faltered in the middle overs with a 40-ball boundary drought.

India’s Shivam Dube was key with the ball, taking 2-33 to restrict Pakistan.

Unlike last week, when India’s captain dedicated victory to the armed forces, both captains avoided political remarks at the presentation.

Pakistan next face Sri Lanka on Tuesday, while India play Bangladesh on Wednesday, with a possible rematch in the final if both sides qualify.
