Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism, Vijitha Herath, announced in Parliament today that 59 Sri Lankans have lost their lives in the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
As of 20th of January this year, 544 Sri Lankans have been recruited into the Russian military service.
Minister Herath emphasized that there is no evidence to suggest that any Sri Lankans were forcibly recruited into the Russian military.
He also noted that ongoing discussions are taking place with the Russian government concerning the Sri Lankans involved in the conflict.
