Department of Motor Transport (DMT) Commissioner General Kamal Amarasinghe has confirmed that no final decision has been made regarding a revision of driving license fees this year.
While the maximum allowable increase for 2025 is 15%, the Commissioner emphasized that this figure represents the upper limit and does not constitute a confirmed fee hike.
He noted that driving license fees are usually revised every three years, with the last adjustment occurring in 2022.
“Although a 15 percent revision would normally apply this year, no final decision has been reached at this stage,” Commissioner Amarasinghe said, adding that discussions on the matter are still ongoing.
The government has yet to announce whether the proposed fee changes will be implemented.
