Committee on Public Finance (COPF) Chairman MP Harsha de Silva has appealed to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to address the serious issue of Sri Lanka functioning without the constitutionally mandated head of the National Audit Office.
In a six-point letter addressed to the President, MP de Silva stressed that an Auditor General must be appointed urgently, especially in light of the current disaster situation in the country.
“Given the large number of transactions now taking place for Cyclone Ditwah reconstruction and the yet-to-be legally established Rebuilding Sri Lanka Fund, the appointment of an Auditor General is essential,” he said in a statement shared on X.
