After winning the toss, Sri Lankan captain Charith Asalanka opted to bowl first.
The New Zealand team capitalized on the opportunity, scoring an impressive 186 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their 20 overs.
Wanindu Hasaranga took 2 wickets for 28 runs, while Nuwan Thushara claimed one wicket for 25 runs for Sri Lanka.
In response, Sri Lanka struggled to chase the target of 187 runs and managed only 141 runs in 18.1 overs. Kusal Janith Perera stood out with a valiant knock of 48 runs off 35 balls, but it was not enough to secure victory.
With this win, New Zealand clinched the T20 series 2-0 in the three-match series. The third and final match is scheduled for 2nd of January.
