Brief Garden, Beruwala in Sri Lanka has been featured in The New York Times Style Magazine’s latest article titled “Nine Artists on the Gardens They’ll Never Forget.”
The feature presents the iconic garden through the perspective of Sri Lankan fashion designer Amesh Wijesekera, founder and creative director of the label Amesh.
In the article, Wijesekera reflects on how the garden continues to inspire him, describing it as a unique and ever-evolving artistic landscape created by renowned designer Bevis Bawa, the brother of celebrated Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa.
Originally a rubber plantation, Brief Garden was transformed starting in the 1920s into a lush tropical space featuring dense greenery, sculptures, and art-filled interiors.
The feature is part of the magazine’s spring “Gardens” package, which brings together artists from around the world to share landscapes and gardens that have profoundly influenced their creative work.
