Victorian Premier Ben Carroll has announced a reshaped Labor Cabinet as the government prepares for the November state election.

The new, smaller ministry will focus on artificial intelligence, jobs, healthcare, education, community safety and cost-of-living pressures.

The changes include a new Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy portfolio, with Anthony Carbines appointed to lead the area.

Premier Carroll said reducing the size of Cabinet would help improve efficiency and deliver better value for taxpayers.

The government says the new team represents a fresh direction for Victoria ahead of the election, while opponents argue the reshuffle is an attempt to distance Labor from past controversies.
