A new ticket counter offering air tickets at subsidised prices has been launched at the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Agency (SLFEA) in Narahenpita, as part of the government’s new initiative to support migrant workers leaving for employment abroad.
The facility was declared open yesterday under the patronage of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment Arun Hemachandra.
At the new counter, overseas job seekers can purchase air tickets at prices lower than those available in the open market, regardless of the destination country.
The initiative aims to ease the financial burden on Sri Lankan workers seeking foreign employment and ensure greater accessibility to affordable travel options.
The opening ceremony was attended by Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Employment Dr. B.S. Yalegama, SLBFE Chairman Kosala Wickramasinghe, SLFEA Chairman Lal Hettiarachchi, SLBFE General Manager D.D.P. Senanayake, SLFEA General Manager Prasad Galappaththi, and several other officials.
