New school to open in Melbourne by 2026

The Labor government is set to build a new secondary school in Melbourne’s Cobblebank area to accommodate the growing number of students.

Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan made the decision in response to increasing student enrollment in the region.

Today, the Victorian Deputy Premier and Minister for Education visited the site to assess plans for the new school.

The school will be designed to support around 865 students, including 65 with disabilities, with all necessary facilities.

It has been confirmed that the secondary school will feature a multi-storey building, state-of-the-art technology laboratories, and dedicated music and drama departments.

As part of the 2024/2025 Victorian budget, $947.7 million has been allocated for new school construction.

Accordingly, Cobblebank Secondary School is set to open in the first term of 2026.
