New design unveiled for $5 note

A group of Australian politicians has submitted a proposal for the design of the new $5 note.

The proposed design includes a portrait of King Charles III on the right, Mount Uluru on the left, and indigenous artwork incorporated throughout.

This comes after the Reserve Bank of Australia announced it would no longer feature portraits of the British monarchy on its banknotes.

Instead, future notes will follow the theme “Connect the Country,” aiming to reflect Australia’s diverse identity.

As part of this initiative, the Reserve Bank has confirmed that Australia’s Indigenous community will be represented in upcoming commemorative notes. However, the final design for the new $5 note has yet to be officially selected.
