New circular grants relief to disaster-affected businesses

The Secretary to the Ministry of Finance has issued a new circular to extend additional relief to businesses affected by the recent disaster, supplementing the concessions previously provided.

Under the new circular, individual small and micro-businesses registered with the Ministry of Industries will receive a one-time payment of Rs. 200,000. The same amount applies to small and micro-businesses registered as formal business entities at Divisional Secretariats.

The circular also includes provisions for unregistered trade businesses operating within permanent residential buildings, granting a one-time allowance of Rs. 50,000. Similarly, unregistered manufacturing industries and greenhouses will be eligible for the same Rs. 50,000 allowance.

Temporary trades disrupted by the disaster, such as street hawking and mobile vending, are entitled to a one-time allowance of Rs. 25,000. These measures aim to provide immediate financial support to businesses of all types affected by the recent disruptions.
