New cargo flight service connects Kunming and BIA

A new cargo flight service between Kunming, China and Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) began operations yesterday with the arrival of its maiden flight.

S.F. Airlines operated the inaugural flight using a Boeing 757-400 aircraft, which landed at BIA at 10:50 a.m., carrying 22 metric tons of cargo.

Airport authorities confirmed that the service will run twice a week, with flights scheduled every Monday and Thursday between Kunming and Colombo.

The dedicated cargo route is expected to significantly improve logistics and strengthen trade links between Sri Lanka and China.

Chairman of Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Pvt) Ltd., Air Chief Marshal Harsha Abeywickrema (Rtd.), welcomed the initiative, noting that the service will play a key role in boosting Sri Lanka’s air cargo industry and enhancing regional connectivity.
