Four newly appointed members of the Audit Service Commission took the oath of secrecy before Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne in Parliament.
The newly appointed members are former Auditor General Gamini Wijesinghe, former Deputy Auditor General G. Thevagnanan, retired Court of Appeal Judge Nihal Sunil Rajapaksa, and retired public service official Rathna Deshapriya.
Under Section 9 of the National Audit Act No. 19 of 2018, members are required to pledge that they will not disclose any information related to audits to individuals in either the public or private sector, except when required by a court, Parliament, or as permitted under written law. They are also prohibited from discussing or making public statements regarding such matters.
Chairperson of the Audit Service Commission and Auditor General Samudika Jayaratne, Secretary General of Parliament Kushani Rohanadeera, Assistant Secretary General Hansa Abeyratne, and Director of Legislative Services M. Jayalath Perera were among the officials present at the occasion.
