
The Netherlands government has expressed its readiness to invest in Sri Lanka’s port sector.
This was announced by the Dutch Ambassador to Sri Lanka, H.E. Bonnie Horbach, during a meeting with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake at the Presidential Secretariat on the 27th.
The discussions focused on strengthening the long-standing ties between Sri Lanka and the Netherlands, along with potential Dutch support for tourism, port development, and investment in Sri Lanka.
An agreement was reached for Dutch assistance in preserving culturally and historically significant sites, supporting research at the University of Colombo, and providing educational and training programs for Sri Lankans.
President Dissanayake also expressed hope for Dutch support in tourism, port operations, and investment initiatives.
Ambassador Horbach acknowledged the President’s proposals in the recent budget and discussed potential Dutch assistance to enhance the “Clean Sri Lanka” program.
The event was attended by Senior Additional Secretary to the President Roshan Gamage, Deputy Ambassador of the Netherlands Iwan Rutjens, and Policy Officer for Political Affairs at the Dutch Embassy Namal Perera.
