The Election Commission has announced that it has not yet received the names of 223 members elected to local government bodies.
Commission Chairman R.M.A.L. Ratnayake stated that political parties and independent groups have once again been requested to promptly submit the remaining nominations.
Meanwhile, the names of 104 elected members that have been received so far were published in the Government Gazette yesterday.
At the local government elections held on May 6, the National People’s Power (NPP) secured a majority in several local government institutions.
