
The Ministry of Defence has announced that a total of 2,983 deserters from the Sri Lankan Tri-Forces have been arrested between 22nd of February and 30th of May.
The arrested personnel include 2,261 from the Army, 194 from the Navy, and 198 from the Air Force.
These arrests were part of coordinated operations carried out by military authorities to track down and apprehend service members who had deserted.
In addition to the military operations, the Sri Lanka Police arrested another 330 deserters, including both soldiers and officers.
The Defence Ministry emphasized that efforts to apprehend all absentees from the armed forces will continue as part of maintaining discipline and national security.
