“Ne Zha 2,” a 2025 Chinese animated horror film, has become the top animated film at the box office.
According to foreign media, the film grossed $275.3 million last weekend. Artisan Gateway Films projects that the movie could reach a total gross of $1.64 billion.
At IMAX theaters in China, “Ne Zha 2” contributed $22 million to the total weekend earnings, marking a 21 percent increase from the previous weekend.
However, despite its impressive performance, reports indicate that the film is still trailing behind global blockbusters like Avengers: Infinity War, Avatar, and The Way of Water, which had wider releases across 75-80 markets worldwide.
